Long Bay Regional Park

Auckland

Gardens and Parks Beaches Points of Interest

Long Bay Regional Park is situated adjacent to the 970 hectares of Okura Marine Reserve on Auckland's North Shore.  The regional park is a popular spot for picnics with plenty of seating areas, a number of BBQ stations and a childrens' play area.

The beautiful beach and views of Auckland's Hauraki Gulf combined with the seclusion offered, are why many flock to the park.

Ngäti Kahu was the primary tribal group to live here until the European settlement started in the 1850s.  In 1862, the Vaughan family purchased 600 hectares at Long Bay, farming sheep on the land for the next 100 years.  Within the park visitors can see their family home which has been restored to its current condition by the Torbay Historical Society.

A number of walking tracks include The Nature Trail and coastal tracks to the Okura River (1 hour, 20 minutes), Granny's Bay (20 minutes) and Pohutukawa Bay (35 minutes).
